About the BBIS Berlin Brandenburg International School
Berlin Brandenburg International School (BBIS) was founded in 1990, immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall, to meet the growing demand for quality international education in the capital of Germany. The school is located in Kleinmachnow, on a picturesque 360,000 sqm campus near a lake, providing a unique natural environment for learning. Over more than 30 years, BBIS has become one of the leading international schools in Germany, offering a full educational program from early childhood education to the IB diploma. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and authorized to teach three International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. The educational philosophy of BBIS is based on the principles of nurturing curious, knowledgeable, and caring young individuals who strive to create a better and more peaceful world, in line with the IB mission. The school's uniqueness lies in its commitment to three core values: "Learn. Care. Inspire." Practices include interdisciplinary learning, developing conceptual understanding, project work, and a strong emphasis on service and action (Service as Action, CAS). An innovative campus with modern science labs, arts studios, and sports facilities supports this approach. BBIS plays a key role in the international educational community of Berlin and Brandenburg, serving diplomatic families, expatriates, and local residents seeking globally oriented education. Its reputation is that of a school with exceptionally high academic standards, an inclusive environment, and strong preparation for entry into leading universities worldwide. The school contributes to the development of intercultural dialogue and global citizenship. The main goals of the institution are academic excellence within the IB programs, developing students' critical thinking, empathy, and leadership qualities, as well as preparing them for successful university studies and life as responsible global citizens.
