They took a winter course for the child (son 15 years old). The level of German was beginner, so they were afraid how he would get used to it - but two weeks was quite enough: in English one could ask a teacher about something, and German himself quickly got into the atmosphere. The training group was at our level, so Daniel did not feel lagging behind in the classroom. Excellent conditions for children: accommodation (we had a wonderful family, people 40-43 years old, traditional people without modern fashionable bells and whistles), food (periodically prepared something typical German, it was interesting to try - the famous German beer is not allowed by age, of course but I liked the dishes), large buses for transfers and excursions, a lot of staff - teachers, guides, counselors, etc., children do not stay alone. This was important for us, because in a solitary journey the son gathered for the first time. Thank you Smaps for the preparation and processing of documents and applications - everything went pretty quickly, in general, the registration took us a little more than two weeks (but I note that we took care of the trip in advance).
Read in fullIn Germany my sister and I study winter German courses at the school OISE Heidelberg. Usually, students choose studying language courses during summer but we spent Christmas in Europe and it was amazing, so wanted to feel this fabulous atmosphere again! It's very beautiful, not cold at all, all cheerful and benevolent - that's why we asked for a ticket for the winter holidays. I passed a standard German course, my sister was in a group for advanced students. In Smapse we were advised to study at OISE Heidelberg school. In general OISE, as it turned out, a very large network of language camps abroad. We chose OISE Heidelberg because of convenient dates of the trip and the availability of vacant places. I really liked the way teachers treat foreign students. There was a feeling that they knew with what difficulties you would face. They devoted a lot of time to pronunciation, constantly communicating with us only in German - in fact, so you quickly stop shy of your level and slowly begin to speak. My sister was even more interested: they watched movies and read books on the original, arranged various disputes and discussions, prepared small projects, studied interesting idioms and popular German expressions. I think if you want to live, study and work in Germany, you need a course for advanced. To achieve "living" language proficiency, that differs from textbooks. And of course, the magic atmosphere of Christmas! We took a lot of walks, gorged on branded gingerbread, skated - it was great!
