About the Schreiner University
Schreiner University is a private university of a humanitarian profile, founded by Captain Charles Schreiner Senior in 1923 as a military preparatory institute (Schreiner Institute). Since 1932, it has been coeducational; the faith-based university is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Located on a 212-acre campus in the rural Texas Hill Country, 60 miles northwest of San Antonio. The university is noticeably less selective in admissions compared to Lycoming or Salve Regina, and positions itself as a small institution with an individual approach - the student-to-faculty ratio is 16:1. In the 2026 US News ranking, it occupies 86th place among regional universities in the western United States. The university also operates the Schreiner Institute - a preparatory program for those entering the US military academies, as well as ROTC programs and veteran support.

Admission conditions in Schreiner University
Admission is made directly through the university website (application through MySchreiner). SAT/ACT are not required and not recommended - only about 3% of applicants submit SAT and 2% submit ACT. The standard document package includes: application, high school transcript, and, if desired, test scores. The format of instruction is mainly in-person on campus in Kerrville; there are also fully online programs available: bachelor's degrees in business administration, communication studies, criminal justice, RN-to-BSN, as well as MBA, master's in education, and nursing programs. The university also offers certificate, associate, bachelor's, and master's programs, making it more multi-level compared to Lycoming College. There is an option to complete the program in 3 years instead of the standard four (3-year degree option).
