Admission conditions in University of California, Los Angeles

Admission to UCLA is extremely competitive, especially for students who are not California residents and international students. The admissions committee conducts a holistic review, considering not only academic achievements but also personal qualities, extracurricular activities, and overcome difficulties. Required exams: For freshmen - SAT or ACT (test-blind policy, results are not considered for admission, but can be used for placement in courses or after enrollment). For non-native English speakers - TOEFL (100 or higher) or IELTS (7.0 or higher). Minimum age: 16-17 years old (admission to undergraduate program after high school graduation). Application process: Applications are submitted through the University of California's common system (UC Application). Applications can only be submitted from November 1 to 30. The application fee for one application is $80 ($95 for international students), submitting to multiple UC campuses requires separate payment for each. Educational qualifications: High school diploma with a specific set of subjects (A-G requirements). Required documents: Completed UC online application, self-reported transcript, information about extracurricular activities, and awards, personal essays (Personal Insight Questions - 4 questions). Requirements for international students: High level of English proficiency. A high GPA is required (usually 3.9+/4.0) and a competitive academic profile. All documents must be translated into English. Financial conditions: To obtain an F-1 visa, proof of financial status is required (I-20 form). UCLA does not offer financial aid to undergraduate international students. Application deadlines: November 1-30 (for the fall semester of the following year).
