We were looking for a school for our son after the 9th grade. The main priority was the minimum number of Russians, also in the priority were schools with their own stables: my son has been engaged in equestrian sports since the age of 7. Stonar recommended considering a consultant to Smpas as one of the options. The school suited us in terms of our parameters, the distance from london airports did not bother us. We also really liked the representative of the school herself, at that time she was a Russian-speaking employee with extensive experience, who was able to answer all our questions and dispel some doubts. My son graduated from high school in 2020. Now he is studying information technology at a university in the United States.
Read in fullBoth my children have attended Stonar School from the nursery at 2 years old. My daughter is now in the senior school and my son is in year 5. They have both been exceptionally happy here and have made great friends. The small classes are ideal for academic learning and more personalised tuition. The school actively encourages children to perform in front of teachers and parents at a range of assemblies and plays which gives children a lot of confidence at a young age. My daughter has excelled in Speech and Drama and is actively involved in school plays and poetry competitions. Children are involved in a wide array of sports due to the fantastic school facilities. So far they have taken part in swimming, hockey, netball, basketball, football, rugby, cricket and horse riding. The school does not have academic entrance exams so there is a very broad range of abilities in the senior school which we feel let’s the children find their feet rather than be put under intense pressure to excel. Grades are however outstanding and this coupled with the huge range of non academic pursuits has given our children a very balanced outlook. My son has a Spanish lesson every school day which has fed through from the Spanish owners of the school and he will be visiting Barcelona this year on a school exchange. My daughter who is a day pupil has new friends from the boarding side from all over the world which is giving her a more cosmopolitan outlook and building great friendships for the future. I would highly recommend Stonar.
